After winning their second straight NWAC West Region Championship, the South Puget Sound Men's Basketball team received several postseason awards. These awards were voted on by NWAC West Region Coaches during a conference meeting on March 4th.

Sophomore AJ Hodges was selected as the 2018 NWAC West Region MVP. The 5'11 combo guard averaged 18.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.6 during West Region play. The MVP award also made Hodges a finalist for Baden Player of the Year, which will be awarded in April. Hodges' MVP campaign followed a dynamic freshman season in which he was selected as West Region Freshman of the Year. Head Coach Aaron Landon said of Hodges, "Anybody who followed the West Region knows what AJ Hodges has done for our program. He's had an incredible year and earned this award by being a winner. I'm proud of AJ and excited for his future."

Freshman DeMonte Malloy and sophomore Wesley Reynolds were named to the NWAC West Region second team. Malloy enjoyed a freshman campaign where he emerged as one of the most efficient scorers in the NWAC, averaging 14 points while shooting 52% from the field. Reynolds started every single game and claimed the NWAC rebounding title, averaging 10.1 rebounds per game through 30 contests. "Those guys were awesome for us this year, Wes dominated the glass and Monte was one of the best wings in the conference. They both sacrificed personal statistics to focus on winning; I thought they were as good as anybody in the conference."

Freshman guard John Moore was selected as the NWAC West Region Defensive Player of the Year. The 6'2 guard played at the top of a stingy zone defense that led the entire NWAC in scoring defense. Landon praised Moore, saying, "Don't look at stats or numbers, look at the film and you'll see how much John Moore affects the game. The most important stat is that when John was hurt our record was 3-4, when he was in the lineup our record was 19-4."

Freshman guard Hunter Sipe was also named to the NWAC West Region "All-Defensive" team. Sipe saw his minutes increase in December and became a full time starter for the Clippers during conference play. He was second on the team in several categories, such as defensive rebounds, steals and charges taken. "Hunter is obviously a great defender, but I thought his offense was equally impressive. Conference voting can get a little funny sometimes, but I'm pleased he was recognized because he was one of the best freshmen in the West Region," said Landon.

On the academic side, sophomores Wes Reynolds and Nolan Black were named as members of the prestigious NWAC Academic Excellence Team. The pair served as co-captains during the 2017-18 season and will both graduate this spring. Landon said of Reynolds and Black, "I don't know where we'd be without them, but I know there's probably not two championship banners in the gym. Those two are the backbone of our program, they have left an incredible legacy of leadership on and off the floor."

Clippers Head Coach Aaron Landon was voted as NWAC West Region Coach of the year for the second consecutive season. Landon, who already owns the most wins in program history, is now in his fifth year leading the program. This was the third consecutive season that the Clippers have earned at least 22 wins and competed in the NWAC Championships. During that stretch the Clippers have gone 37-5 in the West Region and won two West Region Championships.
