Clippers Men’s Basketball Players Win NWAC All-Region Awards

OLYMPIA, Wash. — South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) congratulates student-athletes Jazen Guillory and Lorenzo Moore for being recognized in the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) All-Region awards. Guillory won the Defensive Player of the Year award for the NWAC West Region and was selected to the First-Team All-Region team. Moore was selected to the Second-Team All-Region.

In his second year with the Clippers, Guillory lead the team in scoring, averaging 17.3 points per game. He also showed a vast improvement in other aspects of his game, leading the team in assists per game (4.1), steals per game (1.2), and was second in rebounds per game (6.2) behind Moore.

Guillory acknowledged his role as a team leader and how his dedication during the offseason helped him elevate his game. "It's surreal. I know that I put a lot of hard work in the offseason and the results show. Ultimately, I feel it's always a team award — both of them — because I couldn't have done it without my coaches' and teammates' belief in me as a leader. Without their help, I wouldn't be in this position," said Guillory.

Moore, a 6'5 native of Las Vegas, Nevada, had himself quite a year, ranking third in the NWAC in field goal percentage, making 63.4% of FGs attempted. This impressive percentage netted him 8.6 points per game. Not to mention, he was a presence on the boards, averaging 8.8 rebounds per game, finishing the season eighth in total rebounds for the entire league with 256.

Men's Head Coach Zach Smith spoke highly of his student-athletes and how much they have grown in the two years under him. "Both of them have worked extremely hard. It's fun to watch them — especially being two kids that I signed early on — to watch their start to finish and the amount of effort and time they put into their work, not only on the court but changing the culture of our program quickly."

Coach Smith concluded, "Jazen and Lorenzo have done an incredible job to shift the mentality of our group and our program quickly over a two-year span. It's cool to see Jazen getting the recognition I feel he deserves, he works incredibly hard and he's also an incredible mentor and leader on our campus and our program. Lorenzo is the heart and soul of how we want our guys to play; completely unselfish, plays for his teammates, and does everything to win basketball games."
