SPSCC Women’s Volleyball Wraps up Regular Season

Competing in their second season as a program at SPSCC, the Clipper Volleyball Team wrapped up their 2017 season with an overall record of 13-29 while finishing 5-9 in the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC).

At their September 22nd match the Clippers picked up a big 3-1 home victory against Highline College who would end the season as the second team in the West Region. Posting an impressive .680 team hitting percentage in the 4th set, the Clippers were led by sophomore Jaeya Reed who registered 21 kills helped by freshman Leslie Sanchez-Arellano's 45 assists and fellow sophomore Lydia Soto's 19 digs.

On October 13th the SPSCC volleyball program hosted a Dig Pink event rallying to spread breast cancer awareness throughout the South Puget Sound Campus. During the match that night, SPSCC and over 120 fans honored Dean of Academic Support Services Amy Kelly to show their support as she goes through treatment for cancer, and raised over $300 in donations for the Susan G Komen Foundation.

Jaeya Reed finished her career at SPSCC as number seven in the NWAC with 3.38 kills per set along with leading the team with 284 kills this season. Leslie Sanchez-Arellano finished her season as number eleven in the NWAC posting 6.89 assists per set and led the team with 648 assists on the season.

Three players made the Academic Excellence list this season: Caroline Franklin (3.28), Ellie King (3.56) and Jaeya Reed (3.35). Jaeya Reed made 2nd team all-conference and will play in the All Star match on Sunday, November 19. Freshman Adriana Eleton received an Honorable Mention.

With five freshman returning the Clippers look to continue building their program and moving up in the NWAC West Region during the 2018 season.
