Volleyball Falls in West Region Opener

Volleyball traveled to Lower Columbia for their West Region opener and saw a tough battle with the Devils end in a 3-1 defeat.  After dropping the 1st set, the Clippers came out strong and took a 4-0 lead thanks to the serving power of freshman Airyn Jackson, before the two teams battled in a back and forth 2nd set.  Janae Odom clinched the 2nd set victory with one of her team high 16 kills to even up the match 1-1.  The 3rd set once again was a back and forth battle with LCC eventually pulling away and taking both the 3rd and 4th set to take the West Region victory.

Janae Odom led the Clippers offensive attack with 16 kills and 12 digs, while Airyn Jackson added 10 of her own to go along with her team leading 3 service aces.  Sydney Miller gave the assist on 32 attacks, thanks in part to the hustle of Jayde Grams pulling out 10 digs in the back line, to contribute to the Clippers 44 total team digs on the night.

SPSCC will once again be on the road this Friday as they head to Green River to take on the Gators in another West Region match.  The Clippers will play their first home match of the 2019 season Wednesday October 2nd vs Centralia College.  Please note that all home matches will be played at The Evergreen State College this season as we undergo the renovation of the Health and Wellness Center at SPSCC.
