Wednesday nights West Region match with the Highline Thunderbirds was a back and forth match that unfortunately saw the Clippers dropping the match 3-0. A comeback in the first set despite being on match point, the Clippers rallied for 7 straight points behind the killer swings of Audra Suiaunoa and Janae Odom, before Highline was able to end their comeback to take the first set 25-23. The Clippers opened the 2nd set with a lead, but the Thunderbirds found some rally magic of their own as the two teams battled into extra points off of countless diving digs before Highline captured the 27-25 2nd set. In the 3rd the Thunderbirds were able to take the lead and hold it, bringing them to take the match 3-0.
The Clippers were led by Janae Odom and Audra Suiaunoa with 11 kills apiece, while Odom and Savrina Paul came up big with the hustle plays earning 10 and 9 digs respectively. Sophomore Paige Johnson was a force at the net blocking the Thunderbirds attempts 4 times, 3 of which were solo blocks.
SPSC Volleyball returns home Monday October 14th as they take on Tacoma Community College at 7pm at the Evergreen State Colllege.
