Clippers Top Titans in West Region Opener

Olympia, WASH. - Wednesday night saw the gym turn blue, as the Clippers hosted the Tacoma Community College Titans inside Olympia Orthopaedic Associates Gymnasuium on blue-out night. The match is the first time the Clippers have faced a west region opponent this season and they came out ready to play! 

South Puget Sound jumped out to an early lead behind the attacks of Katelynn Wakefield and Katelyn White. The outside hitters each posted 13 kills on the night and were the driving force behind the Clippers .357 hitting percentage in the opening set. SPSCC took the first set 25-12.

The second set saw the visiting Titans fix their hitting woes from the first set and attack at the net to secure a tight 25-23 victory to even the match at one set each. 

One constant as the Clippers rallied in the third and fourth sets was defensive specialist and libero, Talynn Wheeler. Wheeler led the Clips with 24 digs, while also bring great energy to her team. SPSCC took the third and fourth sets comfortably enroute to a 3-1 set victory and moved to 1-0 in west region play. 

Next up: 

The Clippers will hit the road for the first time in regional play as they travel to Lakewood for a match with Pierce College. Start time is scheduled for 7:00 pm and the match will stream live on the NWAC Sports Network
