Vernell Willingham was named Athletic Director at South Puget Sound Community College on June 1, 2017.
His association with the college started in 1997 when he played for Clipper Men's Basketball. He joined the game management team as a part-time employee in 1999 and transitioned to a full-time position in 2002. His most recent roles at SPSCC were Assistant Athletic Director and Assistant Men's Basketball coach.
During his tenure at the college, Vernell launched Live.Learn.Hoop., a program for local youth basketball players that included summer camps, winter clinics, tournaments and two AAU competition teams. He also held several assistant coaching roles with local schools, including Timberline HS football and River Ridge HS women's basketball.
He is a proud graduate of North Thurston HS (1997), SPSCC (A.A., 2005), TESC (B.A., 2011) and Concordia University (M.Ed., 2017).
