OLYMPIA, WA- The Clippers record drops to 3-15 overall and 1-6 in conference play following a 97-69 defeat versus Pierce College. With the loss, the Clippers find themselves tied for seventh place in the conference standings with Centralia College.
Freshman standout Justin Hicks who posted a team-high 18 points and six rebounds paced the Clippers. Hicks was supported by Freshman sharpshooter Hayden Wakefield's all-around game, leading the Clippers in rebounds (7), assists (4), and blocked shots (3). The Clippers played from behind the entire game, having never held a lead in the contest. This is in part due to their poor shooting as a team and the blistering shooting of their opponents.
Pierce College Raiders moved the ball well en route to 25 assists on 37 made field goals. The Raiders were paced by Michael Ajayi, who seemed to always find himself in rhythm and ready to shoot. Ajayi scored a game-high 38 points to go along with 10 rebounds.
South Puget Sound will look to right the ship when they travel to Highline College on Wednesday, February 16th. Tip-off is set for 7:30 pm and the game will be available via the NWAC Sports Network.
