SPSCC Athletics is proud to introduce Joey Woods as the new assistant coach for both the Clipper Men's and Women's Golf Programs. A native of Olympia, Wash., golf has been his lifelong passion, cultivated through countless hours on the course, leading to him serving as the captain of the golf team at Capital High School. Woods is now a golf instructor at The Valley Golf Academy, where he has spent the past couple of years honing his teaching skills and helping students of all ages and abilities unlock their potential on the course.
His journey in the sport of golf has taught him the value of perseverance, teamwork, and dedication. Woods approaches coaching with a philosophy grounded in fundamentals and a mindset of resilience. He believes in empowering his students to make confident and strategic decisions on every swing, fostering a love for the game, and a drive for excellence. When not on the course, you can find Woods exploring the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest or enjoying time with family and friends in the scenic Steamboat Island area.
Woods, when asked what he brings to SPSCC, said, " I'm truly excited to share my passion for golf and help shape the next generation of golfers at South Puget Sound Community College. I think I bring to the team a championship pedigree coming from Capital High School. Also, I feel like my passion and drive for students to succeed, not only in their athletics but in the classroom as well, will be a major help to the program."
