
Under the guidance of third-year Head Coach Chris Crowe, the SPSCC soccer team ended their 2017 season with an overall record of 4-10-2 including going 2-9-1 in the conference.
The Clippers home opener on August 30th saw them gain their biggest victory on the season as they defeated Treasure Valley 3-0 with goals coming from freshmen Miguel Bravo, Emmanuel Hidalgo and sophomore Coby Castillo. During their match on September 13th the Clippers took down the 2016 NWAC Champion Tacoma Titans on a comeback 3-2 victory, with Coby Castillo scoring the game tying goal and Emmanuel Hidalgo putting away the game winning goal, his second of the match. The Clippers also saw a hard-fought 1-1 tie with Conference powerhouse Highline College to close out September.
Freshmen goalkeeper Alexis Garcia-Salazar ended his season at number two in saves in the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) with 117 saves, single-handedly keeping the Clippers in each match. Freshman Emmanuel Hidalgo concluded the season with 15 points and freshman Miguel Bravo with 11 points.
For the second year in a row, SPSCC had players chosen for the All-Star team; representing SPSCC this year are Coby Castillo (midfield) and Carter Stephens (defense). The All-Star match will be held Sunday, November 12 at 11:15 am at Starfire Stadium.
With three sophomores and thirteen freshmen on the roster the Clippers hope to return a seasoned line-up for the 2018 season.
