The South Puget Sound men's soccer team beat in region rival Pierce College on Wednesday night for their first win of the season.
Freshman midfielder Yuta Shimazu started off the scoring for the Clippers early, netting a goal in the 7th minute. The Raiders came back to tie it just eight minutes later, scoring after a failed clearance attempt by SPS.
The score remained 1-1 through halftime. Sophomore teammates Francisco Ojeda and Trey Lopes each scored in the second half to put the Clippers up 3-1, where they would remain throughout the half.
Coach Jeremy Richtmyre said of his squad "this is one of those games where teams can get complacent very easily. I'm proud of my guys for keeping their heads down and staying focused. I'm hopeful that we can build on this and continue to improve as a team."
The Clippers improve to 1-6-1 on the season and return for another home game on Saturday when they take on Bellevue College.
