The Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) has revealed its selections for the 2024 Men's Soccer All-Stars, which are voted upon by the head coaches in each respective region. South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) is proud to announce that two members of the Clipper Men's Soccer Team were selected for Second Team All-Star honors for the West Region. Freshman Attacking Midfielder Alex Canning and Sophomore Defender Ethan Lattimer were the players that were chosen to represent SPSCC for the All-Star Team.
Head Coach Maxwell Sampson had big praise for his players, starting with Ethan Lattimer. "Guy that I'd like to give a shoutout to who was really an unsung hero all year, wasn't talked about nearly enough is Ethan Lattimer," said Sampson. "Coming in as a sophomore centerback, he was our most consistent player. [A] Ball-winning player, worked his butt off technically to improve his first touch and he was a player that we relied on heavily all year. The guy missed most of his freshman year from an ankle injury when we played Rogue (or Chemeketa) early on going for a tackle. He missed a lot of those developmental minutes his first year but he did enough in the offseason. He's just a such a hard-working guy and a good student. He's the type of guy that all coaches want, you'd want your roster to be nothing but Ethans."
Sampson also had great things to say about Canning. "AC with 9 goals [this season]. It's been, I think, over 10 years since this program has had a 10-goal season and he came as close as you can get," Sampson mentioned. "He really found his form for us and grew into the attacking midfielder that we thought he would be. He's a fantastic emotional leader for the team. He understands the game and he's certainly one of the premier attacking players in the region."
Congrats to all of the players who were selected for All-Region honors!
