Max Sampson was named head soccer coach and educational planner for South Puget Sound Community College on April 17, 2023. In his first season at the helm, Coach Sampson was voted the West Region Co-Coach of the Year while guiding the Clippers to a 6-9-4 record.

In his second season, Coach Sampson lead the Clippers to a fourth place finish in the NWAC west region. The team improved their regular season goal differential by 7 and recorded a 3.35 GPA while transferring players to the NAIA, NCAA Division 2, and NCAA Division 3 levels.

Previously, Sampson was the head coach for Lane from 2020 to 2022, where he was voted the South Region Coach of the Year in 2022 as Lane won the NWAC South Region championship and advanced to the NWAC Tournament quarterfinals. Before his tenure at Lane, Sampson was head coach for Treasure Valley from 2017 to 2019 and assistant coach for Chemeketa from 2013 to 2015. Since 2017, his teams have produced 14 All-Academic, 26 All-Region, and 8 All-Star selections.

A native of Eugene, Oregon, he received a Bachelor of Science degree from Oregon State University and a Master of Arts degree from Concordia University Irvine. Coach Sampson holds a USSF National C License. He resides in Olympia with his wife Bianca.
