
The South Puget Sound volleyball team lost a tough one Wednesday night against Lower Columbia College. The Clippers came out of the gates strong on Wednesday night against Lower Columbia College, scoring 6 of the first 8 points of the match, winning the first set by a score of 25-14.
The Red Devils flipped the script in the second set, jumping out to a lead of 10-1 on their way to a 25-7 win.
The Clippers once again got off to a strong start in the 3rd set, leading 6-0 including an ace by first year Jahnessa Hill. Though the Red Devils tried to battle back, the Clippers held a solid lead through the set, ending with a 25-15 win.
Both teams kept it closer throughout the beginning of the fourth set until Lower Columbia pulled away to win 25-18. In the deciding final set, the Red Devils had the stronger finish winning the set 15-7 to take the match 3-2.
"We had great chemistry and our outside hitters especially played well, we just couldn't finish" head coach Tusalava Kuaea said. Coach Kuaea also noted that sophomore Jayde Grams had her career high in digs with 30. Setter Emily Snider added a double-double with 30 assists and 14 digs. The Clippers attacked from all over with 5 players having multiple kills. Jahnessa Hill led the way with 11 while Khalia Craig (10), Layne Martin (8), Silke Constant (7), and Gracie Kaiser (5) all contributed.
The Clippers travel to Green River looking for the series sweep on Friday before returning home to face Centralia on Wednesday, October 27.
