The South Puget Sound Volleyball team made quick work of the Centralia Blazers on Wednesday night at home. The Clippers swept Centralia on the season, winning 3-0 at home after beating Centralia 3-0 on the road earlier in the season.
The Clippers started out strong and ended the first set with an authoritative kill by #9 Layne Martin to win 25-14.
The second set was a closer battle, but the Clippers edged out a 25-21 win to go up 2-0.
The Blazers gave SPSCC a scare in the third set, maintaining a narrow lead through a score of 10-15 but the Clippers kept the set within reach. Back-to-back kills by Silke Constant and Layne Martin brought the score to 12-16 and started the Clippers on a 4-0 run forcing a timeout by Centralia when the score was 14-16. The Blazers scored first coming out of the timeout, but the Clippers came back with 3 straight points to tie the set at 17. They took their first lead of the set on the next point and never trailed again, winning the set 25-18 and the match 3-0.
"We fought hard and came back in that third set" said Coach Tusalava Kuaea. "Jayde Grams' serve receive came in clutch and Silke Constant's last 3 aces were awesome."
The Clippers return home next week for their last 2 home matches, playing Highline on Wednesday, November 3 and Tacoma on Friday, November 5, before finishing their regular season at Pierce on November 10.
