South Puget Sound women's volleyball team got swept by the Highline Thunderbirds on Wednesday night.

The Thunderbirds held commanding leads through the first two sets, although the Clippers never let it get completely out of hand. The Thunderbirds won the first two sets 25-18, 25-18. A series of kills by Layne Martin and Khalia Craig seemed to spark the comeback, but the Clippers never came closer than within 4 points.

The Clippers started the third set playing tough and traded leads with the Thunderbirds early. But Highline pulled away at the end, winning the final set 25-16.

Highline has already clinched a playoff spot with a conference record of 9-1, while the Clippers currently sit in 5th place in the region with a conference record of 4-6. The top four teams in each region make playoffs.

The Clippers have 2 more games in their regular season, hosting Tacoma this Friday for Sophomore Night before finishing on the road at region leader Pierce College.
