Clippers Sweep NWAC Crossover Tournament

TACOMA, Wash. - Women's volleyball completed a four-match sweep of the NWAC West Region Crossover Tournament hosted by Tacoma Community College. The opening day saw the Clippers face off with Olympic College from the NWAC's north region. South Puget Sound opened the tournament by taking three straight sets and the victory over Olympic. Next up for the Clippers was a match-up with Blue Mountain Community College from the south region. Despite dropping one set, SPSCC would come away with a victory in four sets.

Saturday would see Coach Kuaea's squad win a five-set thriller over the south region's Clark College. The victory would bring the Clippers within one victory of securing the crossover championship. The tournament's final match would see South Puget Sound face off with Shoreline Community College. As they had done all tournament long, the Clippers rose to the challenge and swept Shoreline in three sets. The tournament championship comes amid a resurgent season for South Puget Sound. They have overcome many challenges this season, including injuries to key members of the program.

Three Clippers received recognition for their outstanding play during the tournament. Sophomore Kolona Tuaone earned All-Tournament Second Team honors. In addition, Jennifer Tuimaseve and Emily Snider earned a spot on the All-Tournament First Team for their play. Layne Martin brought home Most Valuable Player honors for the weekend!
