Clipper Volleyball Rolling Along, Face Tough Game Against Red Devils

The Clipper Volleyball team currently sits in the second spot in the West Region standings of the NWAC with a record of 3-2. This is due in part to some recent key wins against Green River in Auburn and Centralia at home. The ladies swept both those games, showing how strong they can be when they are executing their game plan.

After their big win against Centralia, the ladies had a week off, but that doesn't mean that the team was resting on their laurels.

"We've done a couple of different things. Obviously, we're working really hard in the gym and the weight room […] We are practicing for three to four hours every single day," said Team Captain and Sophomore Setter, Caelyn Marshall.

Marshall also talked about the individual effort the team is taking to prepare for Lower Columbia College (LCC), "We've done a lot of things on our own time, too. We spent a couple of hours taking notes on our film and watching Lower Columbia College and their tactics, how they score points, and their weaknesses."

Every game going forward for the Clippers is an important game and that was a fact not lost on the team captain. "We're going into this with the mindset that we have to win this game to hold our place and to go on top of Tacoma Community College as we are tied for second [in the region] right now," said Marshall.

With LCC sitting below SPSCC with a record of 2-3 in the region, they are equally as hungry as get on the win column to climb up the standings. With that in mind, Marshall talked about the team mentality and how they have to match the intensity that the Red Devils are going to come in with.

"We are going into it with that mindset of 'you have to leave everything on the court' and we have to win this game," Marshall said determined.
