The SPS women's basketball team beat Shoreline to move to 2-0 on the season. The Clippers appeared to have the game in hand, up by 17 points with less than eight minutes to go, but the Dolphins put on a full-court press that resulted in turnovers and quick buckets, closing the gap to 3 points at one point before the Clippers finished out the game winning 59-55.

Despite 34 turnovers, shooting 34% from the field and shooting 48% from the free throw line, the Clippers rallied behind Sharay Trotter and Jennie Goldsberry who had 19 and 16 points respectively. The Clippers also dominated the glass, outrebounding Shoreline 62-43, including 19 offensive rebounds. Goldsberry led the rebounding effort with a team-high 14 boards and Payten Foster joined her with 12.

"It's tough to win a game with 34 turnovers but we kept battling. We're happy to get the win and we know what we've got to work on in practice tomorrow" said head coach Darah Vining. "We're still very young and learning how to play together, it's early in the season. We all see our potential and we will keep growing every day."

Shoreline got big production off the bench with Leiah Naeta scoring a team-high 17 points. After being down by 17 near the start of the 4th quarter, the Dolphins press allowed them to outscore SPS in the final quarter 21-12.

The Clippers return home again on Wednesday afternoon when they host Portland Community College.
