Clippers Fall to Rangers

South Puget Sound hosted the Olympic College Rangers for a non-conference match-up on Friday night. The Clippers got out to a hot start, leading 22-9 after the first quarter while shooting almost 40% from the floor and holding Olympic to 25% shooting. The Rangers heated up in the second quarter though shooting over 50% from the field and outpacing the Clippers 23-9 to take a narrow one-point lead in the half. Freshman MiQueen Gaines led all scorers in the first half with 7 points on 3-4 shooting.

The third quarter went in the Clippers favor but the Rangers ended the game on a run, outscoring the SPSCC 17-4 in the final quarter and taking the game 62-53. Sophie Bronson for the Rangers led all scorers with 20 points and was joined by Missy May Valdez and Lanissa Amacher in double figures. Gaines kept a strong second half finishing with 17 points and 10 rebounds while Freshman Emma Garcia joined her in double figures with 10 points.

The Clippers are back in action at home on Sunday when they host the Penguins of Clark College at 2:00pm in the SPSCC Health & Wellness Center.
