Clippers Fall to Speedy Walla Walla, 3-0

Lacey, WASH. - Taking their home pitch for the first time in the 2023-24 season, the Clippers' Women's Soccer team hosted Walla Walla Community College on Saturday at the Regional Athletic Complex.

South Puget Sound, who were without starting Goalkeeper Grace Koonrad due to a red card suspension, turned to Katie Burnett to start in goal. Burnett has been a valuable player for the Clippers, starting games as goalkeeper and midfielder during her time with SPSCC. Burnett posted a .786 save percentage and gave up three goals across 14 shots on goal from Walla Walla.

SPSCC showed promise as they connected passes and moved the ball down the pitch but couldn't connect on runs to result in shots on goal. The Clipper's offense sputtered as they managed two shots on goal in the match, with their best scoring opportunity coming from Kami Oliveira in the twenty-ninth minute.

Despite coming up short 3-0, there was plenty to be proud of for the Clippers. According to Coach Mader, Walla Walla is the fastest team that SPSCC has faced this season, and this match served as a good check-in point to see how far they have progressed. This match will help them prepare for conference play!
