Clippers Drop One to Lower Columbia on Sophomore Day
The women's soccer team hosted Lower Columbia on Saturday for their final game of the season. The Clippers honored their 9 sophomores before the game. The Red Devils combined for two goals in the first half and tallied three more in the second half. SPSCC had opportunities of their own in the second half, earning three shots on goal and two near misses from Sophomore Kylie Wells that just barely hit the crossbar to go out.

The Clippers are graduating half their team this spring with 9 sophomores - Grace Koonrad, Jennifer Pineda-Valerio, Aerial Edwards, Araceli Culp, Kylie Wells, Meghan Knaeble, Katie Burnett, Jordyn Thomas and Bella Landers. 7 of those players were on the team last year when the SPSCC Women's Soccer team had it's inaugural season. "I'm incredibly proud of this sophomore class and the work that they have put in over the past two years," said head coach Becca Mader. "They are the foundation of this program and we are excited to continue to build on the legacy that they started".

In their second year as a program, the Clippers were contenders in every match. They cut down their goals against on the season by over 50 goals. "We've made great strides in just two years and I am looking forward to seeing our freshmen carry on the improvement next year," Mader shared. The Clippers finished the season 1-12-2 and will be back to compete in the West Region of the NWAC next fall.
